Expiry & fees

The money itself does not expire, but the plastic carries a valid-thru date. If that date passes with funds left, the issuer will send a replacement card. Some issuers charge an inactivity fee after 12 months without use — the cardholder agreement lists it.

How to check a MyBalanceNow gift card balance

Only the methods that actually work for MyBalanceNow cards, step by step.

  1. Method 1 · Online

    2. 2Enter the card number, expiration date and the 3- or 4-digit security code.
    3. 3The balance and recent transactions appear. Registering a ZIP code here helps online purchases go through.
    Open mybalancenow.com
  2. Method 2 · By phone

Call the number on the card

    1. 1Call the toll-free number printed on the back of the card.
    2. 2Follow the prompts for a balance inquiry and enter the card number, expiration date and security code on the keypad.
    3. 3The balance is read back to you. Note it in The Wallet Station app so you do not have to call again.

Good to know

  • MyBalanceNow only knows about the cards that carry its address on the back; a Visa card from another store uses a different portal.
  • The card itself is spendable anywhere its network is accepted, not only at Target.
  • Pending authorizations show before they settle, so the available balance can be lower than the last statement for a few days.
