1. Scope
This Privacy Policy explains how The Wallet Station (“we”, “us”) collects, uses and shares information when you visit the The Wallet Station website, join the waitlist, contact us, or use the The Wallet Station app. It describes the private beta as it exists on the effective date above. It does not cover the practices of gift-card issuers, app stores or other third parties you reach through links in the Service.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us. If you join the waitlist we ask for your email address. If you use a contact form or email us we receive your name, email address and whatever you write. If you send feedback about the beta we keep the message.
On this website today, the waitlist and your cookie choice are stored only in your own browser. A completed sign-up is remembered under the key tws_waitlist and your banner choice under tws_cookie_choice, both in localStorage. Nothing is sent to us or to anyone else when you submit the form: the email address you type is not transmitted or stored by us. Before we connect the waitlist to an email service we will update this policy.
Information in the app. Gift-card numbers, PINs, barcodes and balances you add are stored on your device, encrypted, and are not uploaded to our servers unless you turn on a feature that clearly says so. When you ask the app to check a balance, the card details needed for that check are used for that request only.
Device and usage data. Like most websites, our hosting provider records standard server logs: IP address, browser type, pages requested, referrer and timestamps. The app may collect crash reports and anonymous usage counts (for example, how many cards were added) so we can fix bugs and see which features are used.
Cookies and similar technologies. See the Cookie Policy for the full list. Analytics are not active on the website today and would load only if you accept them in the cookie banner.
3. How we use information
We use the information above to:
- send your beta invite and, if you ask for them, product updates;
- answer your questions and support requests;
- run, secure and improve the website and app, including fixing bugs and understanding which features are used;
- detect and prevent fraud, abuse and violations of our Terms;
- comply with legal obligations.
We do not use your gift-card details for advertising, and we do not build marketing profiles from the cards you hold.
4. Legal bases (EEA, UK and Switzerland)
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we process your information on these bases: performance of a contract (delivering the beta you asked for); consent (waitlist emails and optional analytics, which you can withdraw at any time); legitimate interests (keeping the Service secure, fixing bugs and improving it, in ways that do not override your rights); and legal obligation.
5. Sharing
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with brands or card issuers for their marketing. We share information only:
- with service providers who process it for us under contract — hosting, email delivery, crash reporting and, if enabled, analytics — and only for the purposes above;
- with a gift-card issuer, to the extent needed to check a balance you asked for;
- when required by law, subpoena or court order, or to protect the rights, safety or property of The Wallet Station, our users or the public;
- as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, in which case this policy continues to apply until it is changed with notice.
6. Data retention
Waitlist email addresses are kept until your invite has been sent and the beta ends, or until you ask to be removed, whichever comes first. Support messages are kept for up to two years so we can follow up. Server logs are kept for up to 90 days. Card data stored on your device stays there until you delete the card or the app. Where we hold personal data, we delete or anonymize it once it is no longer needed for the purposes above, unless a legal obligation requires us to keep it longer.
7. Security
Card data in the app is encrypted on your device. The website is served over HTTPS. Access to any personal data we hold is limited to the people who need it to run the Service. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so we cannot promise absolute security; if we learn of a breach affecting your personal data we will notify you and the relevant authorities as the law requires.
8. Children
The Service is not directed to anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us at support@thewalletstation.com and we will delete it.
9. International transfers
The Wallet Station is operated from the United States, and our service providers may store information in the United States or other countries. Where the law of your country requires it, we rely on approved safeguards such as standard contractual clauses for transfers out of the EEA, the UK or Switzerland. By using the Service you understand that your information may be processed in the United States.
10. Your rights and how to exercise them
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- access the personal information we hold about you and receive a copy;
- correct information that is inaccurate;
- delete your information, including removal from the waitlist;
- opt out of marketing emails (every email includes an unsubscribe link) and of optional analytics (choose “Essential only” in the cookie banner);
- restrict or object to certain processing, or ask for portability, where the GDPR applies;
- complain to your local data-protection authority.
California residents. Under the CCPA/CPRA you may ask what personal information we collect, use and disclose, request deletion or correction, and you will not be treated differently for exercising these rights. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of on that front, and we do not use sensitive personal information beyond what is needed to provide the Service.
To exercise any of these rights, email support@thewalletstation.com from the address you used with us. We will verify the request and respond within the time the law allows (normally 30 days under the GDPR, 45 days under the CPRA). You may use an authorized agent; we may ask the agent for proof of authorization.
For the website as it stands today, the only data held is in your own browser: clearing this site’s data in your browser settings removes your waitlist status and cookie choice completely.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the beta grows — for example, when the waitlist is connected to an email service or when analytics are switched on. We will change the effective date above and, for material changes, post a notice on the website or in the app before the change takes effect.
