    Add it to the Walmart app

    1. 1Open the Walmart app and go to your account, then Wallet or Gift cards.
    2. 2Add the gift card with the card number and PIN.
    3. 3The balance appears in the app and can be used for pickup, delivery and in-store Walmart Pay.

    Ask at the register

    1. 1Hand the card to a cashier at any Walmart register or the customer service desk and ask for a balance check.
    2. 2They scan or key in the card and the balance shows on the terminal.
    3. 3Nothing is charged — a balance inquiry is not a purchase.

    Call the number on the card

    1. 1Call the toll-free number printed on the back of the card.
    2. 2Follow the prompts for a balance inquiry and enter the card number and PIN on the keypad.

Good to know

  • Walmart gift cards also work at Sam's Club, and Sam's Club gift cards work at Walmart.
  • Never scratch a PIN panel that already looks scratched at purchase — return the card at the store instead.
  • The prepaid Visa and Mastercard cards sold in Walmart stores are checked with their own issuer, not on walmart.com.
