How to check a Target gift card balance

  1. Method 1 · Online

    Check on target.com

    1. 1Go to target.com and open the gift card balance page from the GiftCards section.
    2. 2Enter the card number and the access number, then check the balance.
    3. 3Signed-in guests can also save the card to their wallet to see the balance at every checkout.

  2. Method 2 · In the app

    Add it to the Target app wallet

    1. 1Open the Target app and go to Wallet.
    2. 2Add the gift card with the card number and access number.
    3. 3The balance shows in Wallet and is applied when you pay with the app barcode.
  3. Method 3 · In store

    Ask at the register

    1. 1Hand the card to a cashier at any Target register or the Guest Services desk and ask for a balance check.
    2. 2They scan or key in the card and the balance shows on the terminal.
    3. 3Nothing is charged — a balance inquiry is not a purchase.
  4. Method 4 · By phone

    Call the number on the card

    1. 1Call the toll-free number printed on the back of the card.
    2. 2Follow the prompts for a balance inquiry and enter the card number and access number on the keypad.
    3. 3The balance is read back to you. Note it in The Wallet Station app so you do not have to call again.

Good to know

  • Target GiftCards only work at Target stores and target.com — they are different from the Visa and Mastercard gift cards Target sells, which are checked at MyBalanceNow.
  • An e-GiftCard sent by email has its own barcode and access number; add it the same way as a plastic card.
  • Target Circle rewards are separate from your gift card balance, even though both live in the app wallet.
